Mara Chavez

Mara Chavez’ work traces diasporic histories and the (dis)appearances of narratives within enduring colonial structures. Using animation and open-source digital tools, she treats material and landscape as sites where history continues to speak. Digital tools meet archives, oral histories, and re-enactment as she experiments with different forms of storytelling and presentation. Mara has a background in documentary from Goldsmiths University of London and media/film & art from the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.
